I debated whether or not to post about this. Every time we talked about it as a family we would say how it is so sad that people seem to have forgotten about it already. This is blog is my way of showing that we remember....
Aaron made me watch this movie on TV last night.
It is a real-time film documenting the 102 minutes from the time the first plane hit until the dust (somewhat) settled after the second tower fell. I didn't want to watch it. (I hate sad movies and I thought I had seen it all before) He had watched trailers for it online and had been waiting for it. He recorded it and waited for me so we could watch it together. I am glad that he did. What makes this film different, besides that running 102 min countdown, is that it is shot mostly by amateurs. There is no cinematography, no commentary. They show what was happening in NY while it was happening. It didn't go for shock value (they didn't show a lot of the horror I expected thankfully) but it was more heartbreaking just to watch the people that were living it. Watching it and filming it from just blocks away.
At the time, in 2001, I was numb to it all. It was so distant and seemed so foreign. Now though, for some reason, it seems more real. More human. Our kids are still too young to grasp it so even though they wanted to watch it, we knew it would only scare them. If you have a chance to watch the film,
I recommend it.
You can find it on history.com the History Channel's website.

Oh my goodness. We watched this last night. Quinten just happened to turn it to that channel, and we were hooked. I cried. I covered my face. It was like reliving that day but in a much more up close way. Riveting. I second your review.
Thanks; I hadn't heard about that. I'll check it out online. What a day that was; it's pretty amazing how much things changed so suddenly.
Brian had it on when I got home, but I didn't watch it. Now I wish I would have. Brian was looking up some video clips online and it was making me sick just watching it. They were very graphic.
I can say that I will never forget. I was glad the kids had a flag ceremony at school yesterday and they talked about what happened that day.
BTW, I love the new look of your blog.
We'll have to watch that one. It's going to be hard to get John to watch it. I remember the day very well, Jaidyn was only 2 months old and I remember thinking, what kind of world have we brought her into, it's never going to be the same. So I"m sure I'll do some crying as well when we watch this.
